Our Verdict:
The Yamaha YPG-635 Key Weighted Portable Grand is an upgrade from the earlier 625 model and the added features are definitely worth your while! Primarily, the weighted keys are a great improvement to its sound quality over the soft-touch type. Doubling its polyphony is also a welcome upgrade as the previous 32-polyphony was quite lacking for any digital piano. Overall, you can be blown away by all the improvements and added features, sounds and effects, except we're still a little disappointed that Yamaha didn't do anything about the on-board speakers. For a measly 6W of power a piece, this couldn't do much to keep up with the added features and sounds. Other than that, the YPG-635 comes highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn, compose and arrange music. |

Customer Feedback-
"We decided to get this because: 1. It fit our budget 2. We live in a town home and need the option of headphones 3. I hope the "bells" and "whistles" make it fun for my kids to play. 4. Looks nicer than a keyboard on an X stand, but is still small and easy to move. For lessons now, I think it will be okay, but if any of us get more serious, then I would really feel like I needed to invest in a better alternative." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "The Yamaha sounds like a piano - within the limitations of its speakers. Its action? Better than some real pianos and much less likely to need an action tuneup. And all the benefits that you can get from modern electronics. Full DSP so that you can get simulated concert hall acoustics if you want. This is an amazing item." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "Incredible feel; just like a grand. Sound is spectacular, even through the relatively small speakers. Have not hooked it up to the PA yet, but I'm sure that when I do, it will blow my hair back. Relatively straightforward." - Actual User Review - Buzzillions.com "What won me over to the Yamaha was the key action and variety of tones and rhythms. The "sweet" voices are wonderful -- almost wistful. This keyboard has more dsp features and such than I'll ever know how to use." - Actual User Review - Guitarcenter.com |
