Brand: Yamaha Model #: P85 Recommended Merchant: www.amazon.com About The Product: Accessibility to some of the most sought after features in the digital piano niche is what you get with the Yamaha P85 Digital Stage Piano. For one, it's got the highly-acclaimed Graded Hammer Standard action keyboard that gives you keys which respond to touch just as a real acoustic instrument should - with smooth resistance and a quick rebound. Graded hammer action enables a heavier feel on the bass section and graduates to a lighter touch as you move up the keyboard, truly emulating the gradual action shift of an acoustic type. Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) stereo sampled grand piano sound set makes the P85 sound just as good as it feels. Yamaha knows quality sounds after having built some of the world's finest pianos, so its digital versions respond just like the real thing. The P85 carries a wide variety of high-quality, expressive instrumental voices which include electric pianos, basses, percussion, strings, and some more. Other extras include layering capability, a metronome, a built-in recorder, switch type pedal and an input jack for footswitch control. |

Our Verdict:
The Yamaha P85 is quite a fairly priced 88-key keyboard, considering the quality a Yamaha usually delivers. This model is actually one of the highest quality electric keyboards you can find at such an affordable price. Keep in mind though that digital pianos are designed to mimic the real instrument, so if you want a wider selection of sounds and rhythms to choose from, you'll be better off with a synthesized instrument. Sound quality is great on the P85; the speaker location however affects output, as you can't get the best results using a standard keyboard stand. Volume is a bit limited, although the P85 can be connected to an amplifier or external speakers to get the best results. Overall, for a great digital experience that replicates the sound of real acoustic pianos, the P85 is an excellent choice. |

Customer Feedback-
"I'm sure the sound is great; I'm not such an audiophile that I would be confident in my critique of the sound. It's pretty good, although not as loud as I would like the maximum volume to be. I am not complaining about that or the action or anything like that. It's just the very unconventional V-shaped back that really puts me off because if I am going to use an X-stand, I will need to make some further adjustments to the stand to make sure the keyboard doesn't slide around or wobble." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "This piano looks and sounds beautiful! It has a nice slim, sleek design and is a lightweight at 26 pounds! I got what I wanted which is great piano sounds. For what you are getting you can't beat the price! Casio might be slightly cheaper but I opted for Yamaha because of the name and service reputation." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "Just I was looking for a keyboard with a great piano sound and light to carry. The action is incredible, and I dont believe they did it with only 26 pounds total! Ive had lots of keyboards, the light ones always had cheesy action. Hats off to Yamaha! Good job!" - Actual User Review - Gadgetspage.com "If you want a ton of sounds this isn't the keyboard to get. If you want REALISTIC piano sound and feel then the Yamaha P85 is the best keyboard for the money." - Actual User Review - Guitarcenter.com |
